Becky Rodgers Day at the Dan River Business Development Center
October 29, 2004

Every departure is a tiny death, a poet once said – and every end is a beginning. While we are mourning the loss of Becky Rodgers at the Dan River Business Development Center, October 29, 2004 is also a day of recognition and mixed emotions, as Ms. Rodgers leaves Danville to take a new direction in her life. In mourning our loss, we celebrate Becky’s commitment to family and home, as she returns to her home state of Arkansas with her husband, as he pursues a new career with the Ft. Smith Airport.

Whereas, Rebecca Rodgers came to work for the Dan River Business Development Center in its infancy in 2001, and has served as Administrative Assistant to the President, Board, and Tenants of this center with great attention to the needs of others and ability to juggle many tasks at once.
Whereas, Mrs. Rodgers has maintained a familiar face to citizens, vendors, and municipal professionals across the region, served as the first point of contact for countless citizens in their pursuit of small business opportunities, and made a positive impact on their perception of the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County.

Whereas, Becky has brought our center an appreciable gift – the insatiable recognition that Danville was founded by an entrepreneurial spirit, and has the perfect opportunity to revitalize with that same vigor and spirit of the entrepreneurial pioneer – she has shared many skills, the greatest of which was an entrepreneurial heart.

Whereas, Becky Rodgers has not only been a co-worker, but also a friend to the many people she comes in contact with, performing her duties in a professional manner while exhibiting a great sense of class, excitement and her own special flair.

Whereas, Mrs. Rodgers has worn many hats over the years, that of a diplomat, a hostess, a cheerleader for the region, a counselor for small businesses, and has responded to the Center’s needs - serving in all capacities from receptionist to Interim President.

Whereas, in whatever job Mrs. Rodgers tackled she has preserved order over chaos and calmness over confusion, she proved one of the secrets of modern management: people who value relationships with other people, sustain the growth of an organization.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sherman Saunders, Chairman of the Dan River Business Development Center, by the authority vested in me by this board, do hereby proclaim:

October 29, 2004

“ Becky Rodgers Day at the Dan River Business Development Center”

and ask all tenants and citizens to join the Dan River Business Development Center Board of Directors in expressing our extreme gratitude for her years of service and in expressing our sincere best wishes for all her future endeavors.
