DRBDC Hosts Procurement Conference

The Dan River Business Development Center hosted a Procurement Conference at the Regional Center for Technology and Training (RCATT),  Thursday, February 25, 2010. This conference was to provide information from local, state, and federal agencies to businesses that are already  or thinking about doing business with these entities. New Projects That May Impact Job Counts In The Area

The Tobacco Commission may decide to award four projects that are in consideration. Such projects include, current tenant of the Dan River Business Development Center, IRFlex Coporation, that is developing mid-IR fiber optics and former tenant AVRC that is developing hybrid conversion kits for light to mid duty trucks. Danville Gets Smart21 Designation

Danville is designated as one of the internationally recognized Smart21 communities. These are communities where there has been significant changes to broadband access. Danville's designation as a Smart21 community, indicates that it is using broadband to increase the awarness of the area as a viable place to locate businesses and to help shape its economy and foster job creation. Kauffman Foundation's Fasttrac NewVenture Program

Piedmont BioProducts in DC Briefing

US Secretary of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke convened the Energy Leadership Briefing in Washington, DC on Monday August 24, 2009, where they invited Ken Moss, CEO of Piedmont BioProducts, to join them on the lawn of the White House to update the press on his initiative.
